For January’s Steward of the Month, the
Stewardship Committee is honoring a member of St. Paul’s who recently
died suddenly. Sue Ferrence was a bundle of
energy being as active in her retirement as anyone might be at any time
of life. Sue had a spirit of caring that showed in everything she did.
Sue volunteered as a baker and provider of meals for the Social Ministry
Committee and knitted with the Prayer Shawl Group. As a member of the
Jolly Quilter’s, two of Sue’s quilts were up for silent auction in 2011.
She was a great supporter of the Youth Group and for the past several
years, sewed quilt tops for the youth’s 30 hr. famine. She also
participated in the Stewardship Committee’s Christmas Jar project.
Whether it was a child’s quilt for Hershey Hospital Center or the
projects with the Schuykill County Quilter’s
Guild, Sue gave her full energy to whatever she took on. Never having an
empty calendar, Sue was scheduled to sew LWR school bags for the Sunday
School in January. While Sue is missed, she
leaves us with a model of giving and caring that is well worth
remembering.
